VAAPI on iGPU / APU

The integrated GPU exposes hardware encode/decode via VAAPI: Intel QuickSync. FFmpeg transcodes H.264/H.265 at high speed.

FFmpeg example

A hardware-accelerated H.265 transcode is a single command:

ffmpeg -hwaccel vaapi -vaapi_device /dev/dri/renderD128 \
  -i in.mp4 -vf 'format=nv12,hwupload' \
  -c:v hevc_vaapi out.mp4

Streaming & at scale

Thumbnails, previews, adaptive streaming (HLS/DASH), spread across several nodes with k3s / Kubernetes. Root SSH, IPv6 included, LUKS.
